Post asks audio pros about their favorite music libraries and finds out what could make those libraries even better. For sound designers, time is of the essences too, so Post looks into a new, cloud-based sound effects management tool, Soundly, that offers frequently updated sound effects as part of their services, as well as an integrated marketplace where users can purchase new sounds anytime. Sounds on the cloud are instantly available to the user anywhere he/she has access to an Internet connection. FIRSTCOM MUSIC At Chicago's audio post house Noise Floor (www.noise-floor.com), composer/music supervisor Devin Delaney dives deep into FirstCom Music's online production music library (www.firstcom.com), searching for a track that isn't in the typical 'upbeat and driving' direction. "We have a client that does lots of work with the Catholic Church, and for this one project, we need very old school Catholic worship music," explains Delaney. After searching high and wide through different libraries, FirstCom Music yielded the best results. Not just one track, but numerous tracks of a mixed gender choir singing in Latin, which fit the style and era of the production exactly.
