THE MESSAGE Brief Encounters Whether The Tasting Panel goes to the brand execs or the brands call us, there is an abundance of news to report, from the latest releases to behind-the-scenes experiences with some of the world's most influential importers, winemakers, distillers . . . well, you name it. We may not have enough pages in each issue to devote as much attention as we would like to each person whose path we cross, but please note that if it's in the publication, we deem it noteworthy. —Meridith May, Publisher & Editorial Director 14  /  the tasting panel  /  september 2016 T his summer saw the debut of A Moveable Feast: St-Germain Café Society Brunch Series, hosted by model and singer Caroline Vreeland and St-Germain Global Brand Ambassador Camille Vidal at République in Los Angeles. Inspired by the Café Society movement of the 1920s, when young, bright influencers gathered at spaces across New York, London and Paris, the brunch captured that carefree sum- mertime vibe that the French embody year-round. At the heart of it was the French elder- flower liqueur St-Germain, the versatile and airy spirit that sports a sparkling, deep golden hue. Made from fresh, hand- picked wildflowers that blossom for only two to three weeks every year and that are macerated without ever being preserved or frozen, St-Germain packs the product of 1,000 fresh flowers into every bottle. Attendees sipped on St-Germain daytime cocktails mixed with Chardonnay, vodka and even mezcal. Vidal discussed her forthcoming cocktail book for the upcoming holiday season, Drink French Fluently, which will feature drink recipes developed by 30 bartenders across the country, arranged by occasion—from afternoon to evening. French-born Vidal quoted the saying, "The apéritif is the evening prayer for the French," champion- ing the ritual of gathering with family and friends to open the palate and the evening with a toast. We gladly drank like the French right in the middle of the day. —Becky Tsadik St-Germain Global Brand Ambassador Camille Vidal and model and singer Caroline Vreeland hosted the debut of A Moveable Feast: St-Germain Café Society Brunch Series in Los Angeles in July.
