AND MORE! IN FOCUS BOLDFACE NAMES BFN - WORK Designing a hybrid animation/live-action TV series had some unique challenges for CD Leslie Schilling, who just wrapped Son of Zorn at Fox. The main character, Zorn (voiced by Jason Sudeikis), is an ani- mated warrior from the land of Zepheria, who has come back to Orange County to reconnect with his former wife Edie (Cheryl Hines) and son Alan (Johnny Pemberton). The biggest challenge was making sure the live-action characters' wardrobe was not too much of a carica- ture because the show relies heavily on animated elements. With executive pro- ducer Eric Appel directing, Son of Zorn airs Sunday nights this fall. Designing a series based on a film of the same name is a new experience for CD Julia Schklair, who is thrilled to be shooting in Los Angeles for the much an- ticipated new crime show Training Day. Bill Paxton takes over the title role of cor- rupt detective Frank Rourke, with Justin Cornwell as his rookie partner. Produced by Bruckheimer TV and Warner Bros. TV, the audience is promised the Bruck- heimer stylized vision with plenty of ex- plosions, gunfire, and gangs from all over the world.
