STORAGE GALLERY www.postmagazine.com 48 POST JULY 2016 ARCHION RELEASES NEW COLLABORATIVE STORAGE SOLUTION BURBANK, CA — Archion Technologies (www.archion.com) re- cently introduced the EditStor Omni Hybrid, a new collaborative storage solution specifically designed to support facilities with both high video streaming and graphic rendering demands. It offers high bandwidth through a single 24-bay NAS media server to handle 4K DPX/UHD streaming video, and IOPS performance dedicated to rendering, CGI and transcoding applications. Omni Hybrid allows facilities to avoid storage infrastructure that includes multiple storage servers and complicated, over- priced SAN technology. It delivers up to 8,000MB/s performance for demanding streaming applications, and in excess of 600,000 IOPS for animation and visual effects workflows. A single Omni Hybrid engine with just 24 drives moves streams at 4,000MB/s, and with Archion's new technology, the speed doubles up to 8,000MB/s to allow twice as many streams of 4K DPX/UHD and more simultaneous captures of 4K DPX/ UHD video. Omni Hybrid achieves these NAS bandwidth figures with a dual 40GigE option, delivering up to 200 streams of Ultra HD for 4K workflows. LACIE'S 12BIG DESIGNED FOR 4/5/6K WORK TIGARD, OR — This summer, LaCie (www.lacie. com) will ship its new 12big Thunderbolt 3 product in 48TB, 72TB and 96TB capacities. The professional 12-bay desktop RAID storage unit, designed by Neil Poulton, is aimed at pros who work with 4/5/6K cameras. The 12big features Seagate's enterprise-class drives with a five-year limited warranty. The company added a hardware RAID controller and 7,200rpm drives to achieve speeds of up to 2,600MB/s, and 2,400MB/s in RAID 5. With up to 96TBs of capacity, the LaCie 12big can store 100 hours of 4K ProRes 4444 XQ footage in RAID 5. The system features 256MB cache and is designed to operate 24/7 on 16-bay racks. The redesigned LaCie RAID Manager offers an intuitive interface to administer the LaCie 12big. A new and more user-friendly interface assists the user in setting up and monitoring storage. Drive status LEDs keep track of drive health and RAID build status, and drives can be con- veniently accessed. The aluminum enclosure dissipates heat efficiently and four thermoreg- ulated fans pull heat away from the drives. If a fan fails, the product is still fully functional. For universal compatibility, users can connect to USB-C laptops, as well as USB 3.0 computers via the included USB-C to USB-A cable. LIGHT IRON SELECTS JMR TOWER FOR OUTPOST MOBILE CART LOS ANGELES — Panavison's Light Iron (wwwlightiron.com) division is incorporating JMR's new Lightning LTNG-XQ-8-DTMP Quad Tower into its Outpost by Panavision mobile cart for production and post media manage- ment. Outpost's lightweight and modular design makes it flexible for live color grading, mobile dailies, video village and video assist applications. As a mobile dailies system, Outpost allows users to set and save color looks, download media, back-up in trip- licate, perform checksum verifications, sync audio and transcode at fast- er-than-realtime speed. Using Outpost during production means editorial deliverables, marketing deliverables and iPad/Web deliverables can all be gener- ated the same day. The Lightning Quad Tower is a four- slot Thunderbolt-2 to PCIe expander with an internal hardware (6Gb SAS) RAID controller and an eight-bay disk RAID array for working storage. The Intel-certified product features four x16 PCIe expansion slots and quad 20Gbps Thunderbolt-2 I/O ports. The system safely houses the latest-generation Mac Pro computer. DDN'S ES14K EMBEDDED APPLIANCE BOOSTS LUSTRE PERFORMANCE SANTA CLARA, CA — DataDirect Networks (www.ddn.com) has unveiled its new high-end Lustre storage appliance, built specifically for HPC and data intensive Enterprise markets. The DDN EXAScaler ES14K combines the fast storage platform from DDN with the Intel Enterprise Edition Lustre parallel file system to deliver an advanced Lustre appliance. Benefits of the new ES14K include: high performance, offering 4x faster than other Lustre solutions, providing up to ½ TB/sec- ond throughput in a single rack; low latency, delivering as low as 100μs for superfast em- bedded file system and metadata speeds due to its specially designed internal PCIe Gen3 fabric; efficient scalability that provides up to 2x more capacity per rack than competitive alternatives, delivering 7+PB in a single rack and scaling to 14+PB in a single appliance; and designed for Flash, meaning all SSD config- urations to deliver storage IOPS, throughput and metadata performance. Leveraging hybrid options helps drive down cost/GB while main- taining the performance of a flash tier. ATTO JOINS VMWARE TECHNOLOGY ALLIANCE PARTNER PROGRAM AMHERST, NY — Atto Technology, Inc.
