22 ADVOCATE | SPECIAL PRIMARY ELECTION GUIDE The Election Before the Election Did you know most winners of the General Election will already be determined on August 30, 2016? That's because voter registration is lopsided in many of Arizona's legislative and congressional districts. So, the real action happens in the election before the election, the Primary Election, which will start this week when early ballots are mailed on August 3. 2016 Election Information Visit the AEA Fund for Public Education website at www.vote4schoolsaz.com for AEA's recommended candidates, election information, and more. AEA Election Update Sign up for the AEA Election Update, a weekly e-newsletter with news about election information and events to keep you informed and let you know about ways to take action this campaign season. Get on Permanent Early Voter List Avoid lines at the polls by signing up to receive an early ballot in the mail. Early ballots can be mailed in or turned in at any polling location on Election Day. Register to get on the Permanent Early Voter List and you will receive an early ballot in every election. 1. Visit the Arizona Secretary of State's election website at www.arizona.vote/home#1678087066 2. Find your county election office in the list 3. Click on your county election office's link for "Permanent Early Ballot Request" 4. Fill out the form and return to your county election office Important Election Dates August 1 Voter registration deadline for Primary Election August 3 Early Voting (vote by mail) begins for Primary Election August 30 Primary Election October 10 Voter registration deadline for General Election October 12 Early Voting (vote by mail) begins for General Election November 8 General Election General Election Information Missed the deadlines to vote in the Primary Election?
