SUMMER 2016 | wyoea.org 15 WEA member Stacey Polson of Lander was nominated by a fellow counselor and received the Wyoming Counselor of the Year honor from the Wyoming School Counselor Association. Upon being nominated, Polson had to write ten separate essays regarding her career in order to compete for the honor. "I'm very proud, because I love my job, so it's cool that other people recognize that I love my job, too," Polson said. Stacey will go on to be the Wyoming 2017 State Representative at the American School Counselor Association's National Awards Recognition next January in Washington, DC, and will also be vying for the National School Counselor of the Year award. Next year will be Polson's 20 th year in Fremont County School District #1, and this has been her only position since graduating from the University of Wyoming. Fremont County Member Receives Counselor of the Year Award David Glenn of NEA Member Benefits talks about the Student Loan Forgiveness program to the UW chapter of Student-WEA (SWEA) at their last meeting in April. SWEA-UW plans a robust agenda for the fall and will have schedules out early in the next semester. SWEA and WEA would like to welcome the new advisor at the University of Wyoming, Dr. Tonia Dousay. We appreciate this professor stepping up to help our UW student chapter grow in membership and become more visible around campus.
