40 P E R S P E C T I V E | J U LY / AU G U S T 2 0 1 6 THEY'RE AFTER ME is a short comic which pays homage to old film noir movies as well as to crime comics from the 1940s and '50s. The works of Bernie Krigstein and Alex Toth were inspirations here. The story was originally seen in Mr. Jew's self- published anthology, THE ART OF CRIME. He drew the black-and- white art with pen/brush and ink and colored it in Photoshop ® , though today he would probably do the entire piece on the computer. "Although it's over ten years old," he writes, "I still like the piece. I even went back and made some minor changes and touch ups just for this issue of PERSPECTIVE."
