Local 706 brought wigs for 'show & tell,' we answered questions— and were a big hit! Fellow participants included Local 33's (Stagehands) Bill Ford, Business Agent, and Darrell Aranda, Vice President; Ann Kelleher. Business Agent from Local 768 (Theatrical Wardrobe); and representatives from Actors' Equity, The Actors Fund, LA STAGE Alliance and UCLA Theater & USC Theatre & Film Departments. Pink Contract negotiations between the IATSE and the Broadway League and Disney Theatricals were completed in March in New York City. I was asked to serve on the IATSE Negotiating Committee—a fi rst for a Local 706 member (I previously served on the "Light Pink" Contract negotia- tions two years ago). It has been my great honor to assist the IATSE in negotiating these national contracts. We were able to achieve nearly all of our goals, including 3% wage increases (retroactive to January 1), substantial increases in per diem, defi ned meals and overtime, and on and on … We currently have 58 Pink Contract productions criss- crossing the United States and Canada! This is the number of productions we occasionally have at Christmas—when times are good. This alone is extraordinary … add to this another twenty (20!) new touring produc- tions announced, and we see an unprec- edented amount of work for our members! IATSE Pink Contracts will soon be issued for new productions of Amélie, An American in Paris, Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge, The Bodyguard, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Finding Neverland, Fun Home, Roman Holiday and at least two national tours of the long-awaited Broadway smash Hamilton … also, new productions of I nto the Woods, The King & I, Ragtime, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, a 20th anniversary production of Rent, and later this year, Irving Berlin's White Christmas … Disneyland Resort: Disney is creating a new Frozen- inspired musical to be presented in the Hyperion Theater within the Disney California Adventure theme park. The "This & That …" Hands down, my favorite night of the year: The American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards (Antoinette Perry Awards for Excellence in Theatre) will be broadcast live on CBS from the Beacon Theatre on Sunday, June 12. This year's production will be hosted by James Corden. Hamilton has received a record 16 nominations, including Best Musical. After this show won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, can anything beat it? Last month, Local 706 members Emily Bonosoro, Christina Knapp, Tiphanie Smith and I participated in the Center Theatre Group "Career Fair" at the LA Theatre Center to discuss careers in theater with hundreds of attendees.
