32 NEWS NEWS EDUCATION EDUCATION NEWS GUILD GUILD NEWS Make-Up and Hair Craft Education PROSTHETICS MAKE-UP CLASS Three-time Oscar winner Greg Cannom conducted a Local 706 class in prosthetics. Make-up artists were first given a demonstration showing the processes that Greg used on The Lost Boys, from application to finished artwork. Some added wigs or hairpieces to complete a full character. The class was attended by a wide variety of artists, some with only basic prosthetic experience, some with advanced. All of the finished characters had completely unique looks. Make-up artist David DuMortier assisted. Kim Ayers did the make-up on Carleigh Herbert, which became the cover for this issue of The Artisan. OWAY HAIR CRAFT by Daniel Curet, Hair Craft Secretary Rebecca Gregory, instructor from Oway, gave an introduc- tory presentation to the complete line of Oway color, chemi- cal restructuring, hair analysis, shampooing, conditioning and styling products. The introduction covered basic color analysis, product mixing, use of the color chart and applica- tion techniques, and included a video presentation describing the company philosophy and chemis- try facilities. The live presentation encompassed a virgin double pro- cess application technique, a balyage highlighting technique and a tone- on-tone grey coverage application. They also offered some extra tips for high fashion use of the color line and corrective color situations. The packaging is very unique and eco-friendly. The products are PEG PPG, paraben, petroleum and min- eral oil-free. The fragrances are natural oil-based without synthetic allergens. The conditioning base has a unique butter component that is proprietary. The Wave Shaper/Relaxer System is non-thio based and can be used for curling straight or wavy hair and as a mild relaxer for overly curly hair. They have a complete scalp therapy product line with a Trico analyzer machine that gives a diagnostic of the hair and scalp. Hopefully, this will motivate hair stylists to come out to see the latest techniques in haircutting, coloring, barbering, wig work, peri- od hair styling work and how to make the most of social media. Come and join us at the next craft meeting! We are planning to have them quarterly. And, if you're interested in order- ing Oway Organics styling products or for more educational knowledge, please email Rebecca@simplyorganicbeauty.com
