Mocha AE is Imagi- neer's standalone planar tracking and roto util- ity optimized for After Effects, Apple Final Cut Pro and Motion users. Mocha Pro is the com- pany's intelligent planar tracking utility for post and VFX pros, and combines advanced roto, motion tracking, lens analysis, object removal, insert compositing, stabilization and 3D cam- era solve features into one desktop app. Mocha V.3 offers new rotoscoping tools that MTI Film showcasing transcoding solution H allow users to create and edit roto masks more efficiently. New layer management functions make it easier to view, organize, color code and collapse Mocha layers. Artists can now easily merge and share projects with other artists for large scale roto and VFX pipelines. The advanced planar tracker includes 3D camera tracking for After Effects and FBX formats (Mocha Pro only). A new keyframe layout allows for the adjusting of timing and anima- tion. Interface and keyboard shortcuts have been added too. W OLLYWOOD — MTI Film (www.mtifilm.com) is at NAB with its new Cortex platform. The family of digital asset management products is based on the experience the company has gained over the past decade while developing file-based workflow solutions through its Control Dailies and Convey products. They also used their experience as service providers, offering these types of creative services to clients. Cortex brings portability to the process of managing digital assets from the set to the screen. Cortex: Con- vey is the first offering in the family and builds on the foundation of its predecessor, the automat- ed, datacentric deliverables app used in MTI Film's Control Dailies system. Convey is a stand- alone tool featuring a powerful, multi-threaded transcoding engine that supports all popular video codecs and can be used at any phase in the post workflow. Convey's advanced project management features include multiple deliverable templates per project, automated workflows and a one-to- many render engine. Convey includes MTI Film's algorithms for downconversion and color processing in a 32-bit floating point pipeline, as well as the lat- est realtime, GPU-accelerated de-mosaicing algorithms for RAW camera codecs. MTI Film plans to roll out other Cortex products to address other points in the production and post production process. Ditto Evolution features 6K image sensor ARE, UK — Cintel (www.cintel.co.uk) is launching a new 6K imaging sensor for the Ditto Evolution film scanner at NAB, which provides over-sampled 4K data files, as well as new timeline interface options and an extended vertical range option for the ImageMill2 realtime data pro- cessing engine. The Ditto scans both 16mm and 35mm film with 2K speeds at up to 11fps. The new 6K imaging sensor provides the high-quality, over-sam- pled 4K data files needed by post production and archive professionals. Ditto is instantly switchable from pin registration to non-pin registration, and also includes integrated film grain management and image stabiliza- tion tools. Also at NAB from Cintel is ImageMill2, a data image restoration tool that processes 2K and HD DPX files at faster than realtime speeds. The Origin app can fix dust, scratches and other image defects quickly, and can run simultaneously with Grace, the noise and film grain management tool, and Steady, the realtime image stabilization application. www.postmagazine.com The Foundry offers updated Mari app LONDON — The Foundry (www.the- foundry.co.uk) has updated its Mari paint tool, giving VFX texture and matte painting art- ists more control. Mari 1.4V.3 includes fixes and tweaks, as well as upgrades that remove manual work and free up more time for cre- ativity. These include Linked Patches that allow users to replicate texture data across patches without having to cut and paste.
