Cary M. Shapiro ISEA members tapped to rewrite social studies standards Iowa State Education Association members will help rewrite the state's social studies standards following appointment to a commission that consists of public and private school teachers, administrators and college and university instructors. The standards outline a set of expectations, not a curriculum, so decisions on how to help students reach the standards remain with teachers and administrators. Having ISEA members with a seat at the table, helps ensure student and classroom teacher voices are part of this important conversation. The ISEA members picked to serve on the committee are: Maddie Reynolds, Riverside Community School District; Jacqueline Johnson, Glenwood Community School District; Kim Heckart, College Community School District; Trenton Williams, Des Moines Public Schools; Michelle Hahn, Sioux City Community School District; Tandi Permenter, Clinton Community School District; Kerri Tharp, Muscatine Community School District; Alisa Meggitt, Iowa City Community School District; Mike Miller, Ankeny Community School District; Joe Judge, Albia Community School District; Alicen Morley, Boone Community School District; Canada Snyder, Des Moines Public Schools; Catherine Mein, Ballard Community School District; Sean Neilly, Cedar Rapids Community School District; and Chad Guge, North Scott Community School District.
