SAG -AF TR A 46
team members who return year
after year.
"We build upon our collective
experience to create a SAG
Awards that's even better
than the one before," Connell
says. "These are all extremely
talented people, and I am
consistently impressed by
how closely they collaborate
on making this both a
special occasion and an
outstanding broadcast."
The SAG Awards Committee
is another integral part of every
aspect. Chair JoBeth Williams,
Vice Chair Daryl Anderson
and members Shelley Fabares,
first-timer Jason George and
Woody Schultz can often be
seen deep in conversation
with Connell and various
other team members, sharing
their insights both as working
actors and as long-standing
SAG-AFTRA members.
Remarkably, the entire
Screen Actors Guild Awards
comes together during several
intense months of very long
days, with producers Benn
Fleishman and Gloria Fujita
O'Brien keeping the entire
project organized, running
the schedule and staying on
budget since the show's fifth
year. An outside observer
might not realize how much
pressure they're under, since
the producers' hard-earned
experience reinforces their
natural tendency to stay upbeat
and unflappable.
Fleishman handles all
financial, logistical and
administrative matters. The
pragmatic five-time Emmy
nominee says he looks forward
to returning every year. "I've
been with the SAG Awards
for a long time, which goes to
show how much I enjoy doing
it," he says. "It's a great team of
people."
Fleishman received his
fifth Emmy nomination as
supervising producer of Bill
