Winter 2015 | wyoea.org 31 Education Key Safety Is the to Wyoming Education Association The Wyoming Education Association is excited to continue the partnership with the Wyoming Highway Patrol that began in 2013. The WHP offers a number of free training courses for the students in Wyoming. Provides a look into the 4 different types of child restraints and their use, discussion on Wyoming laws, and liability of caregivers. Child Passenger Safety Awareness Including children's bike helmet giveaways - - provides education to all ages of students on the right and wrong ways to bike and walk along roadways. Also stresses the importance of helmets. Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety A golf cart is utilized to give students a realistic experience of impaired driving or texting while driving in a safe and controlled environment. DUI/Texting & Driving Simulator The students will encounter a realistic experience showing them the effects of a 5-7 mph crash with airbag deployment. Seatbelt Convincer This simulator illustrates the number one fatal crash in Wyoming (one vehicle rollover). Dummies are unbuckled and the simulator rolls over, ejecting them. Rollover Simulator Fatal Vision Goggles The Fatal Vision goggles give students a realistic experience of the effects of alcohol on their balance/vision, reducing the ability to safely drive.
