amous for gowns which were remembered long after a film's last frame, one of
Orry-Kelly's boldest choices was to reconsider military garments with trademark
elegance in the 1942 classic, Casablanca. The simple lines and flawless propor-
tions of the trench coats and skirt suits never compete with believability, while making
a lasting impact, even in black and white.
