In June, it was re-named the SAG-AFTRA Federal Credit Union to conform to the union's name, said President and CEO Roger Runyan. "We respect the vote of the union members, and they voted to merge and establish a new name," he said. In order to be as cost-effective as possible, the rebranding was timed to coincide with the addition of a new flagship branch at SAG-AFTRA Plaza, the union's headquarters in Los Angeles. It opened on Oct. 27 and is located on the ground floor between the parking garage and the membership lobby in the former offices of the SAG Foundation. The Sherman Oaks and Burbank locations will remain open but undergo renovations. "The proximity to the SAG-AFTRA headquarters will make it easier to work with the union to serve the membership," Runyan said. "Our approach is two-pronged: to offer our services in a more central location so we can more easily reach the majority of members who reside in Los Angeles, and to work closely with the union so we can better serve members anywhere in the nation." In the coming year, the credit union plans to roll out new features, including mobile banking and remote deposit capture. "No matter where they are, our members will be able to use their smartphones to make deposits," Runyan said. "They will be able to get their funds as fast as if they were in front of a live teller at a branch." Next year, the credit union plans to introduce a competitive credit card program and begin the process of offering mortgage rate loans nationwide. "This is a welcome addition to SAG-AFTRA Plaza," said SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director David White. "Incorporating the credit union on the ground floor of our national headquarters will make it even easier for our members to take advantage of this great benefit."
