For Members COMMERCIALS W&W WRAPS UP T he Wages & Working Conditions (W&W) process for the commercials contracts was scheduled to wrap up on Nov. 20, concluding a month-long effort to gather member input that began on Oct. 19 and engaged hundreds of SAG-AFTRA members at locals around the country. The union's largest contracts expire on March 31, 2016, and the W&W process provides opportunities for the membership to weigh in on aspects of the contracts most important to them. Members offered feedback by attending local caucuses or submitting suggestions via email. All recommended proposals will be reviewed by the Wages & Working Conditions Committee as proposals for the negotiations are developed. Thanks to all those who participated in the W&W process. Your union can serve you better when you make your voice heard. T he first six months of A Call to Arts have been a resounding success. President Obama put out a call to action, and SAG-AFTRA and the American Film Institute led the charge, with allies, such as the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, the Television Academy Foundation, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, joining with vigor. A Call to Arts is a national initiative with the goal of reaching 1 million mentoring hours by 2018. In just six months, more than 150,000 mentor hours have been logged, reaching more than 37,478 mentees. SAG-AFTRA members and allies have participated in more than 1,000 mentoring events since March of 2015. The initiative gains momentum as new members and partners join the program each week to help cultivate the next generation of creative professionals. Join the effort by setting up an account at sagaftra.org/acalltoarts to start logging your mentoring hours. ENGAGING THE NEXT GENERATION OF PROFESSIONAL TALENT Partners like AMPAS are also helping mentor young people. AMPAS
