I cannot walk through the hospital without seeing people I call friends. Those I have received training from are my mentors forever and those I have trained are as dear to me as if they were my kids. I beam with pride as I see them excel, and I glow when they receive recognition for their accomplishment. I have seen several of them receive DAISY awards. Recently, I have had to make several trips to our emergency department. My husband laughs and says for me going to the ED is like going to a family reunion—I get to see all my friends as they run my tests, and I receive the very best care possible." —Pattie Mann, RN, ASN, WCC, outcomes management RN, clinical quality & patient safety "It's been a great joy working at Torrance Memorial for the last 15 years and it is indeed an honor to be a part of the team. I absolutely love working here because it is a great and friendly place with amazing people. We are one enormous family working together as a team to improve the health of families. I've been privileged to work with dedicated co-workers who tirelessly provide compassionate and exceptional care to our patients and their families. Being a part of all that keeps me here and I cannot imagine wanting to work anywhere else. I am grateful every day."—Carolyn Cruz, RN, staff nurse, mother/baby "I have been at Torrance Memorial for almost 10 years now and have had three very different positions (administrative assistant, MMIS system analyst and contract analyst). When I think back about my previous positions as well as my current position four things come to mind that define why I love working for Torrance Memorial: Challenged. Every day is different and I'm faced with many different tasks, but I've always felt that I've been given the tools and encouraged to use my creativity and intellect to accomplish these tasks. Engaged. Management cares about their employees' career goals and takes an active part in mentoring to help facilitate these goals. Valued. I've always felt like I was a part of a team working toward a common goal. I really do feel that everybody's opinion does matter. Rewarded. Management takes an active role in promoting from within and ensuring that we are compensated fairly. I look forward to having a long career at Torrance Memorial." —Sabrina Getchius, contract analyst, supply chain operations "Our CEO, Craig Leach, takes the time to warmly acknowledge the employees he encounters throughout the day, no matter how busy he is, and no matter where we fall within the hierarchy. He sets the tone, and we feel it! e people I encounter on a daily basis both inside and outside of my own department provide a welcoming environment, and I look forward to coming to work every day." —Verona Rettig, administrative assistant, administration E N D N OT E WE LOVE IT! TORRANCE MEMORIAL WAS VOTED "BEST HEALTH CARE COMPANY TO WORK FOR" AND "BEST HOSPITAL TO WORK FOR" BY THE DAILY BREEZE AND PRESS-TELEGRAM NEWSPAPERS. WHAT MAKES IT A GREAT PLACE TO WORK?
