The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with carolers and strolling musicians throughout downtown; live entertainment at Metlox Plaza from 6 to 8 p.m.; and Santa and helpers in the Bank of America parking lot from 6 to 9 p.m. At 7 p.m., the mayor will flip the switch and illuminate the pier with holiday lights. The ceremony recognizes those loved and remembered with a reading of the names and a food and wine reception. Musical guests include members of the Palos Verdes Peninsula High School Symphonic Orchestra with variations from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker performed by dancers from the San Pedro City Ballet.
