56  /  the tasting panel  /  september 2015 Y ou may have noticed some changes this year within the pages of THE TASTING PANEL: While food has always had a place at our wine- and cocktail– laden table, this year, we found new ways to put the fork first. From stories delving into the regional specifics of Chinese cuisine to detailing the craft of artisanal breadmaking and even featuring our very first dish on the cover, we have loved sharing new chef voices, ideas and tech- niques with our readers in 2015. We loved it so much, in fact, that we launched our section, Prep, this past April, a quarterly feature that put chefs square in the spotlight. From detailing their favorite tools and techniques to following them to the farmers market, we began telling chefs' stories and, soon, we found that there were too many stories to tell. So with the upcoming launch of our sister publication, The Clever Root, Prep will find a new home, alongside stories about today's most innovative chefs, premium producers and interesting ingre- dients. As THE TASTING PANEL will continue to feature food, The Clever Root will also interweave the world of wine and spirits with an ingredient-trained eye and market-fresh mixology mantra. In addition, The Clever Root will also feature the first academic and culinary look at can- nabis, including stories that feature cannabis cocktails. Marijuana tinctures? THC-infused tequila? You won't want to miss this. (See opposite page to subscribe.) As we continue to grow, we hope you'll grow with us! Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (@TheCleverRoot) for updates on The Clever Root, sneak peeks and behind-the- scenes looks at what's to come. Cheers!
