There is no such thing as an average day." At Cloud Nine in Aspen, service staff listens closely. Chantel Ramsey, Olga Kharkhal, Alex Briz, Kerry Dismuke (standing) and Jake LaPenter soak it in as Mitch explains the Glenfiddich aging process. Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky Founded by William Grant in 1886 in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, Glenfiddich (Gaelic for "valley of the deer") remains one of the few family-owned single malt distilleries. The range—the most awarded single malt Scotch whiskies in the world—consists of 12, 15, 18, 21 and 30 Year Old expressions. Glenfiddich 15 Year Old is matured in three types of oak cask: sherry, bourbon and new oak, before being married in a handcrafted Oregon pine solera vat.. Mitch is always working as the voice of Glenfiddich. Here, he explains the nuances of Glenfiddich 18 to bartender Avery Underhill at the SLS Beverly Hills. At Bar Centro at The Bazaar by José Andrés, Glenfiddich Brand Ambassador Mitch Bechard holds court. january/february 2012 / the tasting panel / 75 PHOTO: JOHN CURLEY PHOTO: JOHN CURLEY PHOTO: JOHN CURLEY PHOTO: KEVIN MOLONEY
