FIRSTCOM MUSIC OPENS UP BACK CATALOG WITH FRESH REMIXES DALLAS — FirstCom Music (www.firstcom.com) recently teamed with composer John Fulford to help the company dust off classics from the back of its catalog and re-imagine its tracks. In what it calls The Remix Project, FirstCom is now offering a creative collection of remixes from hip hop to dance, pop and electronica, for all types of projects, from TV commercials to radio, broadcast networks to feature films. According to FirstCom, the market need for its The Remix Project is a timely one for music supervisors as trends in licensing move away from simply cutting and pasting a commercial pop song into a project, and move toward customized works such as remixes to create something unique. "Film/TV productions and brands need a fresh approach to music while maintaining a familiar note that is accessible to the viewer/listener," says Tim Bickford, FirstCom Music supervisor. "Utilizing tracks from FirstCom's back catalog and spinning a fresh take on them checks off both boxes in one swipe." As for Fulford's involvement in the project, Bickford says, "John is plugged into the electronic and hip hop scene. He knows what's trending and what's just over the horizon.
