Stock Footage StormStock adds 35mm weather footage to online offerings Gallery ARLINGTON, TX — Prairie Pictures has updated its StormStock Website (www.stormstock.com) to include clips from its premium 35mm footage collec- tion. The material, shot by cinematographer and StormStock founder Martin Lisius, includes tornadoes, hurricanes, lightning and other severe storms. Highlights include one of the first violent class tor- nados captured on 35mm, and reportedly the only 35mm footage of Hurricane Katrina shot in-progress. "My Arriflex camera has endured 100mph winds, blowing dust and debris, and torrential rain over the years to capture some very compelling images," notes Lisius. "It was important to us that it be available on the new Website." The footage is currently being offered online in the Apple ProRes 422 HQ format, but can be delivered offline in any format, including HDCAM, HDCAM SR and 2K. Visitors to the site can search, view and down- load comps, as well as license, purchase and download full-resolution clips. Citizen Stock (www.citizen- stock.com) in New York City has provided imagery for a large media company that was looking for portraits of people to represent its work- force of more than 10,000. The project is being used by the company's internal worldwide intranet and includes a range of looks and ethnici- ties. David Katzen- stein, who is a co- founder of Citizen Stock, says the sub- jects were photographed with a Canon 1Ds Mark III camera and a variety of lenses, ranging from 35-100mm. Discovery partners with Pixeldust on stereo 3D footage SILVER SPRINGS, MD — Discovery Access (www.discoveryaccess.com), the footage licensing division of Discovery Communications, now has stereo 3D footage available for licensing. The division represents Discovery's 28 global entertainment networks and multi-platform brands, and is home to more than 100,000 hours of content. The division is now working with Pixeldust Studios (ww.pixeldust.tv) to offer high-quality CG stereo footage for both television and film projects. "We have cells exploding, black holes consuming the Earth, alien invasions...the crisp nature of CGI, combined with the stereo 3D effect, is visually arresting," notes Jocelyn Shearer, VP of Discovery Access. "Pixeldust Studios are great creative partners; their modeling techniques and special effects are amazing and really raise the bar for what we see on screen." Discovery Access launched in March and provides direct online entry into Discov- ery's 25-year archive. By visiting www.discoveryaccess.com users can search, preview, license and download footage of nature, exotic locations and science and space imagery. 20 Post • November 2011 www.postmagazine.com
