51 SAG -AF TR A | Special Issue 2015 | SAGAFTRA.org bringing the Shrine Exposition Center to life. This year, Shaffner and Stewart have designed an organic garden theme to transform the basic event hall into a stylish ballroom for actors to mingle, dine and accept their awards. Veterans with 34 Emmy nominations, an Art Directors Guild Award for the 2006 Emmy Awards, and years with the American Music Awards, Shaffner and Stewart are excited about the challenge of combining customary elements with the new organics. Stewart proudly states, "For the first time, we're going to have 20,000 white roses adorning the Shrine Auditorium stage." Bringing the stage design into the showroom is art director Keith Greco. Among his Greco Décor's recent projects were the City of Hope — Spirit of Life Awards and the premiere of the film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1. Coordinating with the production design team is lighting designer Jeffrey Engel. The Emmy winner and 24-time Emmy nominee brings the show to life with more than 200 automated instruments, changing color and design anywhere from 12 to 15 times throughout the night. Musical Director Thomas Caffey joins the SAG Awards family this year with numerous projects to his credit, including composing several pieces of music for the NASA documentary on the space shuttle Endeavor, the Starz feature documentary Champs, the 2012 Academy Awards, the 2008 Alma Awards and many of UFC's live events. Keeping the evening running like clockwork is Andrea Wyn Schall, the SAG Awards event supervisor.
