Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course designed to introduce common mental health challenges for youth, review typical adolescent development, and teach a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. During and after an emergency, teachers and other staff are critical links in promoting resilience, in recognizing the signs of traumatic stress, and in helping students and their families regain a sense of normalcy.
