PHOTO: SAM HARNACK A t this time of year, there is the inclination to sit back, relax and reflect on the past season. Was it a good one? Was it not? What would we change? For some, it's also a time to look ahead to the coming months and, perhaps, set ourselves a New Year's resolution or two. We've all made resolutions we never intend to keep or fool ourselves into believing that we can lose those last few pounds or hit the gym three days a week. At Wente Vineyards, however, it's a time to make plans for the upcom- ing growing season. Our resolutions involve pruning decisions, replant- ing assessments, barrel purchases, tank allocation, etc. This is also a time when we resolve to make wines that are even better than the previous vintage and make the choices necessary to make that goal a reality. We consider what we've learned over the past year, placing it into the context of the past and begin to form a plan for the next vintage. For more than 130 years, the Wente family has been making resolutions regarding our wines. It's a family tradition that we like to keep! Wishing you much joy this holiday season and good fortune in the New Year. —The Wente Family New Year's Resolutions at Wente Vineyards
