Summer S ummer provides an opportunity for most school employees to come up for air finally and enjoy that precious com- modity known as “me time.” It’s an ideal op- portunity for teachers, school nurses, speech therapists, librarians, counselors and classi- fied employees to think about themselves for a change and rejuvenate their mind, body and spirit in a variety of ways. 12 California Educator | JUNE 2011 recharge In other words, it’s a time for the nurturers to nurture themselves. Some prefer to use summer vacation as a chance to take a break from education and enjoy pursuits they have little time for during the school year. They may pursue an interest — such as mastering the trapeze or going to camp — that provides a new outlook and en- thusiasm for life in general. They may spend it improving upon existing skills such as speaking a foreign lan- guage, or finding new ways to tap their inner creativity on a personal level.
