Flicker can happened due to any number of reasons. Timelapse footage, for example, can suffer from exposure variation from frame to frame. High- speed video can have problems due to electric lights. And archived footage may flicker due to degradation of the original film or because older cameras weren't consistent. Flicker Free analyzes the footage and adjusts the bright- ness of the entire frame or even just specific areas that are affected by flicker. This is an automatic process and makes the plug-in simple to use. Users select a preset that describes their footage, make a change or two if neces- sary, and then hit "render." Digital Anarchy recently completed a successful beta phase for Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. The initial release supports AE, Premiere, FCP and Avid, though the company also plans to soon offer support for Da Vinci Resolve, Sony Vegas, Assimilate Scratch, and The Foundry's Nuke. It offers up to 16 individual loudness and true-peak meters in mono, ste- reo, and 5.1 formats for up to 96 individual audio channels. MultiMonitor is standalone software for Windows or OS X that provides flexible, realtime monitoring in full compliance with CALM, ITU-R BS. 1770, ATSC A/85, EBU R128, and other global loudness regulations and standards. De:Flicker corrects timelapse, high-speed problems S AN FRANCISCO — Re:Vision Effects (www. revisionfx.com) recently introduced De:Flicker for Adobe After Effects, a set of three plug-ins. One is specially designed for problems within high frame rate footage. Another is geared toward timelapse photography. And the third analyzes and then stabilizes the color and luminance levels of footage. De:Flicker can smooth out annoying flicker and artifacts that sometimes appear when shooting high frame rate or timelapse video. De:Flicker fixes flicker from artificial light sourc- es, as well as flicker on multiple objects, even when those objects flicker at different rates. The tool also minimizes problems when shooting directly at light sources, which sometimes results in them changing size when shot at high- er frame rates. For those working with timelapse photogra- phy, De:Flicker can help remove annoying pops that sometimes appear in footage. The plug-in also handles the common problems of color shifts, exposure and other camera setting and lighting inconsistencies.
