Tyrell helps Knock Knock meet storage needs L ONDON — UK-based reseller Tyrell (www. tyrellcct.com) recently helped creative pro- duction studio Knock Knock upgrade its stor- age infrastructure with the addition of a 36TB Facilis TerraBlock 24EX shared storage system. The studio was launched by editor Daniel Cha- put De Saintonge in 2010 and has completed jobs for the likes of Burberry, De Beers, and the British Government. Its 12-person East London team previously relied on individual hard drives to store all incoming and outgoing projects. Tyrell helped the studio add the Facilis solu- tion, which is now connected to eight Mac edit suites running Adobe Creative Cloud. One suite also runs Apple Final Cut Pro X. The stor- age is connected via 1Gbit Ethernet. Knock Knock's Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve suite is used for color grading and is connected via 4Gbit Fibre Channel. Completing the pipeline is a turnkey media asset management solution from Axle Video that manages elements held on the TerraBlock. Since installing the system, the studio has seen a noticeable difference in its workflow, and an average time savings of an hour a day. "We no longer find ourselves in those moments of panic, trying to find files, because everything is accessible and easy to archive with TerraBlock," notes Chaput De Saintonge. "I can create standalone or shared volumes for projects and I'm able to manage user permissions to ensure that each editor's storage is under control. There's no wasted time and that's invaluable."
