february 2014 / the tasting panel / 93 TFE Wines on the Map at VUE Trinchero Family Estates' global line-up plays a prominent role in VUE Grille & Bar's wine program, for which Winant has turned to the company's vast wine portfolio. "Such a great line-up—their host of labels cover the spectrum of tiers from low to high, with a welcoming selection of premium California, West Coast and international wines." ECHO BAY SAUVIGNON BLANC Josh Lawrence, Southern Cal Regional Manager for Trinchero Family Estates, describes this latest entry in their evolving portfolio as "the perfect wine for any wine list—it's an incredible value to offer by the glass." Scott Winant, Director of Food and Beverage at Indian Wells Golf Resort notes, "The trend here has everyone looking for a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Echo Bay's nice crisp citrus crispness with a refresh- ing inish not only makes it easy to drink as a stand-alone wine but it also pairs with many of our dishes. At our last food pairing event, we matched the Echo Bay with our Paciic sea bass dish, presented in a deconstructed clam chowder. The acidity in the wine carved right through the richness of the chowder, while being subtle enough to really complement the softness of the ish. Delish!" DOÑA PAULA LOS CARDOS MALBEC Los Cardos translates as "the thistles," colorful lowers that are reputed to sig- nal good terroir wherever they grow. Grown in Argentina's inest appella- tions, the grapes for these wines are grown at elevations reaching 3,330 feet, and the resulting juice is approachable and fresh. TRINCHERO NAPA VALLEY 2009 MERITAGE Trinchero Napa Valley is TFE's lagship property with limited- production estate wines sourced from prime Napa Valley appellations, includ- ing St. Helena, Mt. Veeder, Rutherford and Atlas Peak, This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Indian Wells Golf Resort is owned by the city of Indian Wells and managed by the internationally known Troon Golf Management & Development Company. It is the only facility in California with two courses ranked in the Top 20 "Best Courses You Can Play" in California by Golfweek magazine. It's located within walking distance of four Indian Wells luxury hotels. With a farm-to-table focus extending to VUE's beverage program, Winant articulates, "We're onto healthy imaginations with a fresh take on classic cocktails, using all fresh ingredients along with our new house-created craft libations. Partnering with Trinchero Family Estates, which recently branched out to the spirits realm, the bar utilizes both their line of organic Tres Agaves Tequila for trendy cocktails and their agave nectars as lively mixers." Trinchero Family Estates has added premium spirits brands to its portfolio, including Tres Agaves Tequila and Sugar Island Spiced Rum. The brands are served at the bar at VUE.
