HAWAII SEA SPIRITS 95 Caorunn Gin, Scotland ($32) Smooth, aromatic nose; lush, creamy texture; dry and mellow with an infusion of local Scottish botanicals including heather, dandelion and bog myrtle; rich and long, distinctive and generous with notes of vanilla; lovely spice and crisp, focused flavors. Note: I made a Martini with this gin and it was one of the best I've ever had. CAMPARI AMERICA 92 Speyburn 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Scotland ($23) Silky and lush with floral and citrus notes; balanced and elegant with lovely style and soft, spices and wood notes; charming, mellow and medium-bodied; balanced, polished and a terrific value. Glen Garioch Virgin Oak Single Malt Highland Scotch Whisky, Scotland ($110) Smooth, smoky nose; malty and generous with clean, nutty flavors and above all nicely smoky; some notes of sandalwood and mellow, clean style; long finish. 92 88 Mandolin Vintners 2012 Chardonnay, Monterey ($10) Clean and smooth with soft fruit and vanilla oak notes; juicy, long and balanced. 92 Licor 43, Spain ($23) Lush, sweet and complex with charming herbal and vanilla tones. Enjoy as a digestif or serve with a float of fresh heavy whipping cream for a now-trending "43 Mini Beer." RIONDO USA DEUTSCH FAMILY WINE & SPIRITS 90 Hudson Maple Cask Rye, USA ($45) Medium amber color; tea and vanilla nose; sweet, dense and showing black tea and honey; creamy vanilla and mild spice; long and mellow. 93 WILLIAM GRANT & SONS 93 Auchentoshan Virgin Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Scotland ($130) New oak nose; toasted and smooth with nice fresh-hewn oak flavors; mellow and balanced with nice clean and mild style; elegant and charming. Kringle Cream Liqueur, USA ($20) In June of this year the kringle, a pastry of Danish origins, became the official state pastry of Wisconsin; this cream liqueur seeks to duplicate the flavors of a kringle—sweet, spicy with a hint of fruit and vanilla; lush and rich with a base of rum; made in Wisconsin.
