The New Old School SOUTH POINT'S MICHAEL KENNEDY KEEPS ONE FOOT IN LAS VEGAS'S PAST, AND ONE IN HIS INDUSTRY'S FUTURE by Xania Woodman / photos by Mona Shield Payne W hen the doors open for dinner service at Silverado Steakhouse in the South Point Hotel Casino & Spa, Director of Food Operations Michael Kennedy is easily the youngest man in the room. Elsewhere, gentlemen of a certain age help their lady friends to their seats, settling in nice and early for steaks and a couple glasses of wine before catching a flick at the theaters or hitting the lanes—a typical scene for a local Las Vegas casino. But it's not long before a large, boisterous family of at least three generations is seated, too. It's the perfect metaphor for this property, a mix of the old school and the new.
