HP introduces ZBooks & Z displays P ALO ALTO, CA — HP (hp.com) has expanded its Z portfolio of professional workstation and display products. The line up includes three new HP ZBook mobile workstations, processor and graphics enhancements to the line of HP Z desktop workstations, and two new HP Z displays. By incorporating Thunderbolt technology, select HP Z mobile and desktop workstations now can take advantage of high-speed data transmission between Z workstations, displays and peripherals, providing fast, versatile I/O connection. The new HP ZBook mobile workstations now feature a thinner and lighter industrial design. The HP ZBook family includes the first workstation Ultrabook — the HP ZBook 14 — as well as the HP ZBook 15 and 17. Designed for workstation-class professionals that demand mobility, the new HP ZBooks feature fourth generation Intel Haswell dual- and quad-core processor options, and next-generation graphics technologies from Nvidia and AMD. The ZBooks all feature tool-free chassis access for easy upgrades and serviceability. The HP ZBook 14 also comes with the option for a touch-enabled panel, making it well suited for pros who like a hands-on experience. The HP ZBook 15 will include an option for a highresolution QHD+ 3,200-by-1,800 display, providing greater detail in images for customers that require extreme TitaniumZ Shared Storage SIMPLE. The HP ZBook 15 and 17 feature a Thunderbolt port, as well as an optional DreamColor Display panel that provides accurate and consistent color from the display to print and the big screen. The HP Z desktop workstation line, which includes the HP Z420, Z620 and Z820, have been updated with the latest Intel Xeon E5-1600v2 and E5-2600v2 families of processors, also called Ivy Bridge. New memory runs 16 percent faster. The addition of Thunderbolt will accelerate creative projects with data transfer speeds four times faster than the bandwidth of USB 3.0. The dual-socket HP Z820 offers up to 24 processing cores, up to 512GBs of ECC memory, up to 15TBs of highspeed storage, and up to two Nvidia K6000 graphics cards. The HP Z620 packs lots of computing and visualization power into a quiet, compact footprint. The HP Z620 is HP's most versatile workstation, providing up to 24 discrete processing cores, up to 192GBs of ECC memory, up to 12TBs of high-speed storage, and Nvidia K6000 or dual K5000 graphics for highspeed graphics performance. HP's Z420 includes up to eight processing cores using the latest Intel Xeon processor E5-1600 v2 and E5-2600 v2 product families.The enhanced HP Z420, Z620 and Z820 workstations will be available this month, starting at $1,399, $1,689 and $2,439, respectively. Adding to the company's line of pro displays, the new HP Z27i and Z30i IPS are designed for applications requiring high image accuracy, versatile adjustability and mission-critical reliability. The new displays provide excellent coverage of the sRGB color space, with both offering 100 percent coverage. The 25,000-square-foot studio is situated in Old Montréal and will be home to more than 200 artists. It will feature a full specification screening room, and will be networked through MPC's pipeline, allowing for collaboration and review of sequences between each of MPC's global studios. The investment is being supported by parent company Technicolor and the Government of Quebec. The team at MPC Montréal will work on Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past, with overall VFX supervisor Richard Stammers. Other projects that will be completed in Montréal include Into the Woods, with MPC's VFX supervisor Matt Johnson, and Cinderella, with overall supervisor Charley Henley of MPC. "We are excited to open a base for MPC Film on the East Coast of North America," says Emilie Dussault, managing director of MPC Montreal. "This further extends our global network and perfectly complements our activity in Vancouver.
