Extreme Music & Hans Zimmer launch Bleeding Fingers L OS ANGELES — Extreme Music (www.extrememusic.com), the production music arm of Sony/ATV Music Publishing, has partnered with Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and his longtime business partner Steve Kofsky in The Bleeding Fingers Custom Music Shop. The new business will be housed in a multi-million-dollar, 7,500-square-foot facility that's under construction and scheduled to open in Q1 of '14. Bleeding Fingers will focus on creating show-specific libraries for unscripted, reality, documentary and light drama television productions. According to Russell Emanuel, CEO of Bleeding Fingers and Extreme Music, the company spent approximately eight months exploring opportunities, during which Bleeding Fingers scored over 30 shows. These included Boston's Finest, Duck Dynasty, Hatfield's & McCoys: White Bleeding Fingers' (L-R) Russell Lightening and The Men Who Built America. The company earned Emanuel and Steve Kofsky. ASCAP and BMI Awards for its work on the History Channel's Mountain Men during this time. When complete, The Bleeding Fingers Custom Music Shop will include as many as 18 rooms, some designed for writing, and others geared toward live recording. 4 Post • September 2013 www.postmagazine.com Nashville's Hummingbird Productions (www.hummingbirdproductions.com) has completed work on a string of national commercial campaigns.The studio produced music and sound design for Prilosec OTC's Picnic spot, starring Larry the Cable Guy, as well as for "Chili's Free One Million Flatbread Giveaway." The studio also wrote and produced original music for the Purina Beneful Web video, Don't Forget to Play. Composer Sean Callery is nominated for his 13th Emmy Award, being recognized in the "Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music" category for his work on CBS's Elementary. Callery continues to work on the second season of Elementary, as well as on the third season of Homeland, and the ninth season of Bones. Composer Nate Barr has two nominations in the "Main Title" Emmy category. Barr's work on FX's The Americans and Netflix's Hemlock Grove are both in the running. In addition to working on the second seasons of both shows, Barr has scored all six seasons of HBO's True Blood. Blackmagic (www.blackmagicdesign. com) recently cut pricing for both its EF and MFT model Cinema Cameras. Priced at $1,995, the Cinema Camera offers 13 stops of wide dynamic range and a 2.5K sensor. RAW, ProRes or DNxHD recording is possible, allowing files to be opened directly in most popular editing software programs. Customers can choose from the EF-compatible mount model, which lets them use Canon and Zeiss lenses with full electronic control of the iris, or the Passive Micro Four Thirds (MFT) model, which gives users compatibility with a wide range of manually-operated lenses, while also being easily adapted to other mounts, such as PL mount via thirdparty adapters. Thomas Gewecke, chief digital officer and executive VP for strategy and business development at Warner Bros.
