Because of the way the tools are built in, LightSpace can convert, create looks, concatenate and modify LUTs — that's why many DITs use it for color management: It's ideal for working on-set." According to Shaw, "a critical part of color matching is monitor-to-monitor. LightSpace can match from anything to anything. Additional Light Illusion software MatchLight IMS takes things a step further to match different shots, like a graded shot and an ungraded shot. It's also used a lot by on-set DITs who are working with raw footage and rough daily grades. Software upgrades can come as fast as "sub-weekly," he says. "We released a version about five days ago and have a new version about to go live. Licensed customers just download free upgrades; they have a lifetime license with no yearly maintenance charge."
