Black Momma is actually a corn-based vodka and is gluten-free. Also, the suggested retail price ranges from $28 to $32. Scharffenberger Cellars winemaker Tex Sawyer wrote to clarify a statement in the Scharffenberger story: "I was the winemaker for Edmeades Vineyards in the Anderson Valley in the early '80s after Jed [Steele] left there to go to Kendall-Jackson. I have not had the opportunity to work for Steele Wines or in Lake County."
