www.postmagazine.com 16 POST MAY/JUNE 2026 NAB SHOW 2026 Highlights from the annual Las Vegas convention BY MARC LOFTUS T he annual NAB Show took place in Las Vegas from April 19 th through 22 nd , drawing more than 1,100 exhibitors and 58,000 attendees from across the globe. The show had a focus on artificial intelli- gence, streaming, the creator economy and cloud workflows, and Post caught up with many of the industry's leading technology developers to learn about their latest releases. Here, we share details on some of the highlights we came across during the show. Adobe At NAB Show 2026, Adobe (adobe.com) intro- duced Frame.io Drive, a cloud solution that makes media quickly accessible to collaborators but with- out the need for each creative to download it. Users simply mount Frame.io projects to their desktop and media becomes live in Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects and any other tool in their workflow. There is no waiting for downloads and work can begin the moment the project is mounted. Frame.io Drive is a desktop application that connects Frame.io projects on a computer. Once mounted, media appears in Finder or Explorer and behaves like local files inside creative tools. Editors can access footage directly in Premiere, while designers can access layered assets in Photoshop. Motion designers can also begin compositing in After Effects. This all happens without the need to download media. Frame.io Drive builds on the foundation of the Frame.io Transfer app. With Frame.io Drive, collaborators each mount the same project and work from one source. There is no need to send transfer links, maintain separate storage systems or ship drives between locations. Teams stay aligned because they are all working from the same files, in the same project, at the same time. This shared workspace becomes a single source of truth for an entire production. Media, metadata, permissions and project structure all live togeth- er, making it easier to find what is needed, track progress and keep teams coordinated. Instead of managing copies, teams work directly on the same underlying assets. Frame.io Drive is powered by Frame.io Mounted Storage, a new architecture built for realtime access to large media files. Media streams as applications request it, while local caching keeps performance fast on even the largest files. Teams can now work with high-resolution assets without waiting for full downloads. Frame.io Drive is now available. Blackmagic Design Blackmagic Design introduced DaVinci Resolve 21 just prior to NAB Show in Las Vegas, where it hosted demos of a range of new products. The company calls V.21 a major update, with highlights that include integrated photo image editing capa- bilities via the Photo page. DaVinci Resolve's node- based workflow can now be used on still images. It's possible to add nodes in series or parallel to build complex grades, apply different corrections to different parts of an image simultaneously and use shared nodes to apply the same look across an entire album of photos at once. The Photo page also lets users reframe and crop images at their original source resolution and aspect ratio. LightBox view on the Photo page gives custom- ers an overview of their entire album with grades applied. Users can select any image and grade it live while seeing the results update across the whole collection in realtime. Material can be filtered by graded, ungraded, star rating, flag and clip color. New camera controls let users tether a Sony or Canon camera directly to DaVinci Resolve for live image capture. Camera settings, such as ISO, exposure and white balance, can be adjusted, and capture presets can be saved to lock in a consis- tent look before a shoot. There are a number of new AI tools in Resolve 21. IntelliSearch allows for fast content searching. Speech Generator transforms written text into a spoken voice. CineFocus allows users to refocus with realistic bokeh and lens effects. The AI Face Age Transformer lets users age or de-age a face, while the Face Reshaper can be used to reshape and resize facial features. Additional AI features include Blemish Removal, Motion Deblur and UltraSharpen. On the VFX side, the new release features Krokodove, the popular and ever-growing library of compositing tools. The collection ranges from utility tools that improve productivity, to vector and data tools, to customizable 2D & 3D graphic templates that can be used throughout Resolve. The Fairlight soundtrack tool also receives im- provements. To optimize timeline space, users can now assign audio tracks to a folder and collapse it into a single composite view. When collapsed, mini rectangles represent the folder contents, indicating the number and duration of the con- tained clips. They can simply expand the folder to access individual tracks. DaVinci Resolve 21 also receives updates for immersive tools and workflows. The standard immersive option in the master project settings allows users to work with any supported immer- sive formats for delivery to platforms such as Meta Quest and YouTube VR. It's also now pos- sible to orient immersive media using spherical Panomap rotation for more intuitive pitch, tilt, pan, yaw and roll adjustments. Additionally, it is now possible to apply ILPD retargeting data in the Fusion page, allowing for more advanced stereoscopic media handling and compositing.
