S P I D E R - N O I R G R A P H I C S | P E R S P E C T I V E 7 9 Spider-Noir is a film noir crime drama series, loosely based on a 2009 comic book which re- imagined the world's (third) most famous comic book character, whose live-action rights have become convoluted, hence the omission of the word "Man" from both the title, the script, from all marketing, and from our very lips. It is a co- production of Sony and Amazon, which means most major decisions had two parents (which is always a fun time). Set in 1933, just before the end of Prohibition in the United States, the series reconceives the legendary Web-Head, told as faithfully as possible in the style of film noir. The walls of the production offices (fortified and secluded somewhere on the Sony lot) were plastered with research frames from movies such as The Big Sleep, The Big Heat and The Maltese Falcon. In nearly all film noir, a down-on-his- luck private eye runs across a femme fatale who inevitably double-crosses him, but when super- powered individuals are involved, those elements converge into something unique and at times transcendent. Production Designer Warren Alan Young brought his keen eye for detail and intense focus on B B.
