The story takes place within a walled-off,
completely manufactured environment, and it was
the job of me and my team to imagine, design and
then manufacture that environment entirely from
the ground up.
Backlot/Cul-De-Sac
One of the most exciting aspects of the production
was that we were based at the brand-spanking-
new Netflix Studios in Albuquerque, which had no
backlot, so we were able to design and build our
own completely new suburban cul-de-sac out in
the sagebrush mesa behind the facility.
The description in the pilot script describes
our heroes as living on a cul-de-sac on the
outer perimeter of a senior living complex.
