www.postmagazine.com 9 POST NOV/DEC 2024 BITS & PIECES SOUND LOUNGE ANNOUNCES NEW LEADERSHIP NEW YORK CITY — Sound Lounge (www.soundlounge.com) recently an- nounced that mixers Steve 'Major' Giammaria and Justin Kooy will step into new leadership roles as partners. The promotions come as the company enters its 26th year as one of New York City's longest-standing independent audio post houses. In anticipation of this transition, veterans and founders Marshall Grupp, Peter Holcomb and Tom Jucarone will take on new roles in the spring of 2025. "Sound Lounge has always been more than just a studio — it's a place where creativity thrives and clients become part of the family," says Giammaria, who is a four-time Emmy Award winner for his work on The Bear. "We're incredibly proud to continue that tradition, while also bringing fresh ideas and energy into the mix. Tom, Peter and Marshall have always believed in cultivating internal tal- ent, and Justin and I are a result of that tradition. We look forward to building on what they've created and pushing the company to new heights. Giammaria has been with Sound Lounge since 2006 and will now lead the film + television division while embracing broader leadership responsibilities as partner. Justin Kooy, who's been with Sound Lounge since 2005, has built a strong reputation as a commercial mixer. In his new role as partner, Kooy will lead the commercial division, continuing to drive the company's success in the advertis- ing space. "It's an exciting time for Sound Lounge," Kooy notes. "We are committed to offering the same exceptional service and quality that has defined us. Our goal is to intrigue and inspire, ensuring every project we work on elevates our clients' visions and exceeds expectations." Looking ahead, Sound Lounge is also upgrading its facilities to better serve clients. The company broke ground on an Atmos commercial studio and a new, larger ADR studio, both set to be completed by early spring. "These new spaces are part of our vision to stay at the forefront of audio post production," notes Giammaria. "They will allow us to continue pushing the boundaries of creativity and technical excellence, while delivering the premium, boutique experience our clients have come to expect." FAB OPENS ONLINE AS DIGITAL ASSET MARKETPLACE CARY, NC — Epic (www. unrealengine.com) has launched Fab, a one-stop desti- nation where cre- atives can discover, buy, sell and share digital assets. Fab is the successor to the Unreal Engine Marketplace and Sketchfab Store. It's also the new home for Quixel Megascans. This new marketplace supports all types of creators with content for use across Unreal Engine, Unity 3D, Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and other digital content creation tools. Unreal Engine developers will be able to access Fab directly in the Unreal Engine 5 Editor. Fornite creators can discover Fortnite-ready assets through Fab in UEFN. Fab integration in the Unreal Engine 5 Editor is coming soon. Creatives can visit Fab.com to discover a large collection of high quality, real- time-ready game assets, environments, VFX, audio, animations, characters and plug- ins. Fab offers content that's compatible with multiple game engines, a wide variety of asset types and various licensing options. Right now on Fab, creatives can browse the extensive content library; use Channels to find content compatible with Unreal Engine, UEFN and Unity; and choose the licensing option that meets their needs. FOUNDRY WINDING DOWN MODO DEVELOPMENT LONDON — Foundry (foundry.com) recently announced that it will wind down the development of its 3D modeling tool, Modo, after the release of Modo 17.1 late this year. The company says the strate- gic decision will allow it to focus on its core offerings and invest in new solutions that meet the evolving needs of the media & enter- tainment community. Modo offers a flexible 3D modeling, animation, texturing and rendering toolset, and is designed to serve as a starting point for creative exploration. Active customers will continue to receive support until the end of their current contract, and can obtain an existing license to an extended 10-year license term so that they can continue to use Modo in the future.
