Iridas previews SpeedGrade 2010 M UNICH, GERMANY — Iridas (www.iri- das.com) showed a preview of its SpeedGrade 2010 product at this year's NAB show. The 2010 version will include a com- pletely revamped user interface that focuses on simplicity and elegance. SpeedGrade 2010 will also have new stereoscopy features. For the 2009 release, Iridas has extended the built-in stereoscopic tools found in Speed- Grade XR and SpeedGrade DI, to simplify work on stereoscopic projects. The automatic stereo conform feature has been improved to support new naming conventions. And stereo- scopic monitoring solutions now include dual SDI, dual DVI, interlaced, TI-pattern, shutter glasses and anaglyph, among others. A new difference Matte view allows users to quickly ID geometric misalignment in stereo footage and correct it interactively in realtime. And the new dynamic resolution feature helps speed up workflows that involve wavelet-compressed footage, such as Cine- form or .r3d material. I NDIANAPOLIS — Cine-tal Systems (www.cine-tal.com) was at NAB with its new Cinemage B Series of displays. The line-up of 10-bit displays includes 42-, 23- and 19-inch configurations with wide color gamuts to support HD and DCI standards. The line integrates the company's CineSpace color manage- ment and calibration software, allowing for control of the wide color gamut pri- maries, and creating accurate reference for DCI, HD and SD monitoring. Cinemage uses an optimized combination of 3D LUTs, 1D LUTs and 21-bit color matricies to provide high-precision monitor calibration, display system emulation and color previsualization. Also on display was the DAVIO solution for calibrating plasma displays and use in stereo workflows. Convey was intro- duced last year and automates the pro- duction of file-based deliverables. De- signed to run as an adjunct of MTI Film's Control Dailies dailies processing system, Convey de- livers time savings for post houses by allowing the pro- cessing of dailies and the production of deliverables concurrently. In its original con- figuration, Convey supported dailies deliverables on DVD, the popular format for dailies screenings. The new support for Blu-ray addresses the grow- ing preference for screening dailies in that format. The additional support for DNxHD and DPX file formats aids the editorial process by facilitat- ing the rapid delivery of source media in formats directly ac- cessible by the most commonly used edit- ing systems. C HATSWORTH, CA — Gefen (www.gefen.com) showed its new DVI-1600HD at the show, which de- livers DVI video with digital (TOSlink, S/PDIF) and analog (L/R) audio and RS-232 control up to 1,000 feet in dis- tance. This allows for timely and reliable signal delivery supporting digital video resolutions up to 1920x1200. Lower resolutions can be extended over the same sys- tem up to 6,600 feet, making it suitable for those ac- cessing computers stored in centralized machine rooms. RS-232 allows for remote control capabilities that can be integrated with other A/V systems. The Gefen DVI-1600HD operates through sender and receiver units, connected to the computer and the extended display. Four-strand fiber optics ca- bling links local and remote locations, delivering video, audio and control signals in an instant transmission. When using HDMI, the 1600HD delivers 1080p full HD with digi- tal/analog audio and RS-232 control. HDCP compliance guarantees this system will work with today's HDTV sources, including Blu-ray players and gaming systems. Gefen solution extends DVI signals DVS offers uncompressed PCI board H ANOVER, GERMANY — DVS (www.dvs.de) added to its OEM video board product line with Perseus, a PCIe inter- face board that plays out uncompressed ma- terial in realtime at resolutions up to 4096-x- 3112. Since Perseus plays out uncompressed images, compression artifacts such as blurred pictures, faded colors and block artifacts can be prevented. 4K displays and projectors can be connected to Perseus via four DVI or four dual-link SDI interfaces. Its integrated 3D LUT offers realtime color management.
