Young 8/18/2022 Ron Zimmerman 7/29/2022 VINCENT "VIN" SCULLY, a legendary sportscaster best known for calling games for the Dodgers, died August 2 at the age of 94. Scully began working as a play-by-play announcer for the Dodgers in 1950, when the team was still the Brooklyn Dodgers. Following the team to Los Angeles in 1958, he has been the voice of the team for a record 67 seasons. Over the years, he also called sporting events for CBS Sports and NBC Sports. He also appeared in a variety of movies and television shows, including For Love of the Game (1999), The Bucket List (2007), Highway to Heaven (1985) and Brooklyn Bridge (1991). Scully, who joined AFTRA in 1949 and SAG in 1960, was a 2009 recipient of the AFTRA Media and Entertainment Excellence Award, or AMEE. During the award ceremony, which predated the merger of SAG and AFTRA, Scully sung the praises of his union. "AFTRA is truly the greatest union on Earth," he said.
