Colin Giles, head of the VFS School for Animation & Visual Effects, shared more information about the school's programs with CGW. CGW: Tell us about the VFS School for Animation & Visual Effects. What types of programs and courses do you offer? Colin Giles: We offer three full-time diploma programs. All are 12-month intensives: 3D Animation, Modeling & VFX; Classical Animation; & Animation Concept Art. CGW: What sets the VFS School for Animation & Visual Ef- fects campus apart from other schools? Colin Giles: We have an immersive project-based curriculum heav- ily taught by current industry professionals. We also have world- class leading facilities that include 50,000 square feet of labs and filming space that feature a 270-degree green space and a working relationship with the on-site Beyond Capture Studios. They are a global leader in performance capture and our students get direct access to the facility. CGW: How does the VFS School for Animation & Visual Effects campus utilize cutting-edge technology in its programs? Colin Giles: We utilize current technology, enterprise level work- stations, as well as industry-level render farm. Students also get full access to pro-level hardware from our resources department. CGW: What advice do you have for students who are interest- ed in pursuing a career in animation or visual effects? Colin Giles: It's important to make something and build your creative voice. Get your hands-on experience alongside professional men- torship and guidance. And building relationships.
