As he and his brother John assume their leader- ship roles at Terlato Wines International from their father Tony, who learned the business from his father, Bill's children are entrenched in different aspects of the industry. Eldest daughter Jo Terlato, 23, graduated from Duke University a year ago and has plans to work on the distributor level. Tony, 20, a sophomore at Duke, works for Chica- go's largest retail chain, Binny's. Youngest daughter Elise, a sophomore in high school, will work in Napa Valley this summer, as will her brother and sister. "She'll be doing pretty much everything," Terlato assures, "from the caves to the cellar to the vineyard and even in the retail [tasting] room." With Terlato-owned properties in Napa including well-known names such as Rutherford Hill and Chimney Rock, there's much to learn. "And then, there will be the experiences at Gaja (Piedmont) and Chapoutier (France)."
