The LA-based entertainment professional brings almost two de- cades of experience in licensing, client relations and digital content management. Syn creates sonic branding, original music and sound design for advertising, entertainment and networks, along with loca- tion-based sonic environments and live, curated music for hotels. McNeill has negotiated and managed agreements with every major record label, as well as a variety of indie labels, music publishers and artists. In addition to his music work, McNeill has brokered deals with entertainment studios, tech companies and consumer brands. DAN MARSHALL Signiant in Lexington, MA, has appointed Dan Marshall to the newly-created role of chief revenue officer, reporting directly to CEO, Margaret Craig. Marshall will be responsible for driving all of the com- pany's global sales activities. Signiant is known for optimizing the transfer of large files over IP networks, and the company's role in the media technology business has expanded dramatically in recent years. Marshall brings many years of experience building and driving high-performance, customer-centric sales organizations in the media tech- nology sector. He joins Signiant from Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he led several large teams involved in implementing media workflows in the cloud. GAIA BORRETTI Rock Paper Scissors, which has locations in both Santa Monica, CA, and New York City, recently announced that editor Gaia Borretti has joined its roster for representation in the US. One of Europe's premier commercial editors, Borretti con- tinues to be represented by The Assembly Rooms for commercials, music videos and film in the UK and Europe. Originally from Rome, Borretti considers herself a global citizen, having spent time across the world in the service of film. A classically-trained musi- cian, her introduction to the film industry began with assisting Italian film editor Jacopo Quadri. In 2018, her work on the feature-length documentary To the Wildlands and Back for Ubisoft's Ghost Recon video game franchise garnered her multiple awards. BRITTANY GUTIERREZ Nashville's Howling Music has hired agency producer Brittany Gutierrez, who joins the music house as executive producer. Gutierrez brings over a decade of producer experience, most recently with Ford's longtime agency GTB. Her focus will be on expanding Howling Music's agen- cy connections while assisting with production oversight and management. Gutierrez spent close to four years at GTB as a producer of broadcast and integrated media for Ford and other accounts. She also worked with Ford Communications on public relations assignments. Previously, she spent four years at Commonwealth/McCann, producing television, out-of-home and digital advertising, including ads for Chevrolet's reintroduction of the Corvette Stingray. STEVE MURGATROYD, MEG GUIDON Soho, London-based VFX studio Freefolk has consider- ably strengthened its long- form offerings with a series of promotions and hirings, an infrastructure upgrade and a new name. Freefolk Film & Episodic is run by a dedicated team that's separate from Freefolk Commercials. The new effort is led by VFX supervisor Steve Murgatroyd, formerly Freefolk's head of 2D, and VFX executive produc- er, Meg Guidon. SHEILA WICKENS, RORY KNIGHT-JONES In London, MPC Episodic, Moving Picture Company's dedicated visual effects division for television and streaming, has hired Sheila Wickens and Rory Knight- Jones. Wickens is a former VFX supervisor with Dneg, and will serve in a similar role at MPC Episodic. Knight-Jones was formerly a VFX producer with Milk VFX, and will hold the same role here. Both are MPC alumni and bring credits that include work on Doctor Who, Big Little Lies, Harlots and The Old Guard. MPC's episodic division launched in January of 2020 and has quickly expanded from its headquarters in London to Berlin, Bangalore and Los Angeles. EMILE GHORAYEB Emile Ghorayeb has joined Montreal's MPC Film as animation director, bringing with him more than 25 years of experience in VFX and animation. He has worked on many theatrical blockbusters, and in his new role, will continue bringing photorealistic char- acters to life. Prior to joining the MPC Film team, Ghorayeb worked at a number of leading VFX studios, including ILM, Weta Digital and Sony Imageworks. His long-standing career as animation director and ani- mation supervisor saw him supervise teams on films such as F9, Alita: Battle Angel, War of the Planet of the Apes and Riddick. His portfolio of characters developed over his time working as an animation artist, when he brought to life notable characters such as Shrek and Donkey; Halo's Master Chief and Cortana; the T-Rex and Raptors from Jurassic World; Bumblebee, Megatron and Optimus Prime; Caesar; Alita; the Avengers and many more. ALEXA MATTERI Xencelabs Technologies, the Portland, OR-based digital tablet developer, has named Alexa Matteri marketing manager for the Americas. She will be re- sponsible for several key business initiatives designed to establish the new brand as the leading developer of professional digital tools. Xencelabs launched in early 2021 and introduced its new Pen Tablet as its first product. Matteri will be instrumental in strengthening the company's market position by guiding the brand's strategy and direction. She brings a successful track record of launching and promoting digital draw- ing technologies and building out new markets. A former Wacom employee, her background includes a range of global sales and marketing leadership roles, building successful teams and implementing new market strategies across the Americas, Europe and Asia.
