The union has long been deeply immersed in significant initiatives on diversity, equity and inclusion within the industry. SAG-AFTRA's Equity & Inclusion Department works with members every day, offering support, education and resources while enforcing non-discrimination provisions of SAG-AFTRA contracts. The union also orchestrates regular inclusion-themed events and builds bridges with allied organizations, including journalism groups that represent AAPI, LGBTQ, African Americans, Latinos and more. In addition, members serve on numerous diversity committees that focus closely on the interests of specific communities. Two new committees, which the National Board just approved, will serve Middle Eastern and North African, and Latino members. Events such as Stop the Hate Week help to shine a spotlight on the imbalance in opportunities that keeps many groups marginalized. The recent history of the last MICHELLE C.
