5 0 P E R S P E C T I V E | J A N U A R Y / F E B R U A R Y 2 0 2 1 M A D I E H a y s E S M É J a c k s o n Esmé received her bachelor's in industrial design from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She fulfi lled her liberal arts credits at Columbia University in New York, where she studied fi lm and anthropology. Post-graduation, Esmé worked as a coordinator for a set shop specializing in televised events. She worked on everything from Teen Mom to the VMA's. Eventually getting the narrative bug, she started designing her own shorts; Fell and Casualties. Consecutively, she spent 2017 in the Art Department of Orange Is the New Black. In 2017, she moved back to Los Angeles and earned and MFA in Production Design at the AFI. Madie Hays is a Production and Scenic Designer who is passionate about telling diverse stories for contemporary audiences. Madie originates from Boston, but has now settled on the West Coast. She has recently fi nished her studies at UCLA culminating in an MFA in Scenic and Production Design. After graduating from Harvard University with her BA in the history of art and architecture, Madie spent four years working in the freelance theater and fi lm world. She worked frequently with the American Repertory Theater and other smaller theater and fi lm companies in the Boston area. Ms. Hays also spent a year in Australia, working with fringe theater companies in the Sydney community. Madie is currently working in the Art Department of a new HBO Max show, and looks forward to continuing to grow her experience and knowledge of the industry. E A B C D D.
