4 4 P E R S P E C T I V E | N O V E M B E R / D E C E M B E R 2 0 2 0 version of the overgrown jungle they had created at Benthall. On the upper fl oor was a magnifi cently dilapidated drawing room that, apart from changing out the windows and a substantial amount of set dressing and drapes, was not touched, and a corridor that connects the staircase with the bedrooms. These were relatively intact and mainly required painting, and in Enola's bedroom, Scenic Artist Rohan Harris painted the creeping vines on the paneling that in story terms were painted by Enola's mother. The Journey After her escape from Ferndell, Enola heads to London by train and it's onboard that she meets the young lord Tewksbury and "Bowler Hat," one of the fi lm's villains. Her escape from Bowler Hat went through many iterations at script stage and considerable time was spent designing diff erent sections of interior and exterior trains that were never built, let alone shot, before the fi nal seuence was locked down. In the end, two stations and a practical steam train were modifi ed and dressed on the Severn Valley Steam Railway and an articulated interiorexterior train set was built in the studio. This consisted of a hero compartment and corridor carriage set with ends interchangeable with pieces of other carriages to facilitate a chase through the train, with Tewksbury fi nally being dangled out a door of the moving train and forced to leap from the side of the engine's tender.
