1 2 P E R S P E C T I V E | N O V E M B E R / D E C E M B E R 2 0 2 0 N E W S Creative Arts Emmy Winners 2020 B Y D A V I D M O R O N G , E D I T O R The 2020 Creative Arts Emmys were presented in fi ve virtural presentations over six nights from September 14 to 19. The Creative Arts Emmy honors outstanding artistic and technical achievement, and is primarily focused on the many crafts involved in television production. The requirement that the shows be done virtually led to a mix of taped introductions and live award announcements. All the nominees submitted prerecorded acceptance speeches and the winners got to see themselves accept the award during the telecast. Many of the artists recognized this year have won in the past. This is the fourth year in a row the designers of Saturday Night Live have been recognized for their work. Elisabeth Williams and her team on The Handmaid's Tale have taken home the Emmy for three consecutive years in the narrative contemporary program category, and Jason Sherwood won the award for the second year in a row for a variety special, following last year's win for Rent: Live with an award for his design of The Oscars. The "Aberfan" episode of The Crown brought Martin Childs his second win for that series, the fi rst being for season one. New to the roster of Emmy winners this year is Andrew L.
