It was directed by Marjane Satrapi (Persepolis, The Voices) and produced by Paul Webster (Atonement, Eastern Promises) from a screenplay by Jack Thorne (This Is England, Wonder). It is an adaptation of an award-winning book by Lauren Redniss. The fi lm deviates from traditional biopic form and presents the viewer with a look at the incredible life and discoveries of Marie Curie, while also looking at how her work and legacy impacted future generations through a series of fl ash-forwards. It is a fi lm about life, love, loss and legacy, and offered us an exciting opportunity for sound to be part of the storytelling. The fi lm premiered as the Closing Night Gala of the 2019 Toronto Film Festival and was due for release in Europe in March and the US in April 2020, which was scuppered by COVID-19. The fi lm was released this summer on Amazon Prime and other digital platforms.
