www.postmagazine.com 2 POST SEPT/OCT 2020 EDITOR'S NOTE ost's latest issue has a lot to offer, including a special focus on audio solutions that may not already be on your radar. Our "Audio Toolbox" feature on page 24 looks at many new releases that are designed to save time and inspire creativity. Whether you're trying to do remote ADR recording, replace background ambiences, cleanup noise or deliver an immersive experience, there are new tools that are designed to help. In addition, a number of audio pros have chimed in regarding tools they've found to be particularly handy during these challenging times. On page 20, we have a "Sound Library" feature that reports on new releases from throughout the production-music space. Many projects aren't budgeted for a custom score or song license, but that doesn't mean you can't incorporate high-quality music that en- hances a project and resonates with viewers. Universal Publishing Production Music's new Re|Covered label has reimagined cover versions of many popular tracks that are more afford- able than those from the original artists. Syn's "Made In Japan" reflects the country's broad range of styles. And Alibi has a collection of '2020' playlists that will work well with content that reflects the world's current events. Many providers have improved the search functionality of their respective Websites, making it easier to find the perfect track simply by browsing. For those who want input from a creative partner, most libraries are more than happy to collaborate and share the deep knowledge they have of their catalogue. Some will even augment existing music to better match a project's needs. Keeping with the audio theme, I recently spoke with Kevin Valentine and Larry Benjamin, the Emmy-nominated mix team behind Netflix's popular Ozark series. The duo have been working on the series since it debuted in 2017, and with Season 4 on the horizon, they took some time to detail their workflow, including highlights from Season 3, and how they collabo- rate with series star and creator, Jason Bateman, who oversees all aspects of the show. Beyond our audio coverage, I invite you to check out Karen Moltenbrey's coverage of the new Netflix feature Over The Moon. The animated project — which is highlighted on our cov- er — visualizes the Chinese legend of Chang'e, who lives on the moon, where she waits for her true love. Karen also reports on the visual effects team that is helping HBO create 1930s Los Angeles for the popular detective series Perry Mason. You can learn more about the show's unique challenges on page 12. And for those who want to learn about Fox's new dramatic series, Filthy Rich, I had a chance to speak with the show's creator and director, Tate Taylor, who spent much of his time in New Orleans, where the show was shot. Editing took place in New York City, and on page 14, Taylor shares insight into making the series, which stars Kim Cattrall. There's a lot to check out, so enjoy this issue and stay safe!
